If you’ve been scrolling through TikTok lately, chances are you’ve come across this surprisingly addictive dish Braised Pork Belly with Yakult. Yes, Yakult. The iconic probiotic drink might seem like an unusual ingredient for a savory dish, but it brings a subtle sweetness and tang that balances beautifully with the richness of pork belly and the saltiness of soy sauce.
This recipe is incredibly simple, uses minimal ingredients, and delivers deep, comforting flavors with very little effort. Perfect for a quick home-cooked meal for 1–2 people.

Why This Recipe Works
The magic of this dish lies in its contrast of flavors:
Yakult adds gentle sweetness and a slight fermented tang
Soy sauce brings umami depth and saltiness
Pork belly provides rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture
Garlic and leek round everything out with aromatic warmth
The result? A glossy, flavorful braise that pairs perfectly with a bowl of hot rice.

Simmer
Cover with a lid and let it simmer at low heat for 20–30 minutes, until the pork is tender and the sauce has slightly thickened.
Serve
Serve hot over steamed rice. Spoon extra sauce over for maximum flavor.

Tips & Variations
Caramelization Boost: Let the pork belly sear undisturbed for better browning before flipping.
Extra Depth: Add a splash of dark soy sauce for richer color.
Egg Swap: If you don’t have quail eggs, regular boiled eggs work just as well.
